About the Banking Division
The South Carolina Board of Financial Institutions Banking Division consists of the Office of the Commissioner of Banking, which charters, supervises, examines and otherwise regulates state depository financial institutions within its jurisdiction, including banks, savings banks, savings and loan associations, trust companies and credit unions. It determines compliance with the laws and regulations of the State of South Carolina and monitors the operations of these institutions to ensure that best practices are maintained.
